Ming Li
Ming Li was a post-doctoral research associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from February 2010 to July 2011. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China, in 2003 and 2008, respectively. From Sep.2008 to Jan.2010, he worked as a research associate and post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. His research mainly focuses on high-temperature device packaging and cooling design in hybrid electric vehicle application, and modeling, analysis and design of power converters.

Hui Yuan
Hui Yuan visited The University of Tennessee from August 2008 to August 2009 and worked with Dr. Tomsovic. He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Washington State University. He received his B.S. from Fuzhou University in 1995 and M.S. from North China Electric Power University in 2000, both in electrical engineering. From 1995 to 1997 he worked with Yongzhou Electric Power Company as an operation engineer. From 2000 to 2004 he worked with China Electric Power Research Institute as a research engineer and project manager in the fields of EMS and Electricity Markets. His research interests are power system restructuring, power system operation and control.

Hui Zhang
Hui Zhang received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering at The University of Tennessee in December 2007 (Advisor: L. M. Tolbert). She received a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Zheijiang University, China, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. She worked as a post-doc at UT and Oak Ridge National Laboratory from January 2007 until August 2008. She is presently an assistant professor at Tuskegee University in Alabama. Her area of research interest is modeling of silicon carbide based power electronics circuits.

Ph.D. Dissertation: Electro-thermal modeling of SiC Power Electronic Systems


Yateendra Mishra
Yateendra Mishra is a visiting scholar at the University of Tennessee. He is pursuing his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia. He completed his B.E and M.Tech in electrical engineering from BIT Mesra and IIT Delhi, India respectively. His research area includes load modeling, power system dynamic stability and control, DFIG based wind generation modeling and distributed generation. He was a visiting scholar at UT from August 2008 until January 2009.

Engin Ozdemir
Dr. Engin Ozdemir was a visiting scholar at The University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory from January 2007 until September 2007. While at UT, he worked on the interface of solar panels with multilevel diode-clamped converters. He is an associate professor at Koaceli University in Turkey.

Sule Ozdemir
Sule Ozdemir was a visiting scholar at The University of Tennessee in 2007. While at UT, she worked on the interface of multilevel converters with solar panels and the electric grid. She is an assistant professor at Koaceli University in Turkey.

Melanie Agcaoili
Melanie Agcaoili is participated in the Ronald McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program at The University of Tennessee during the summer of 2003. Her research for the program involves the multilevel power converter. She is also an M.S. student in electrical engineering at Mercer University, Macon, Georgia. As an intern, she performed toll study and updated the routing network using AutoCAD for the cellular department at Public Service Telephone Company.

Hakim Ghanem
Hakim Ghanem is an exchange student from the Ecole Centrale Nantes (France) at The University of Tennessee. After two years of maths and physics in the preparatory classes of Janson de Sailly High School (Paris, France) he has been a student at Centrale Nantes where he is completing an engineering degree in automatic control. He did his project work at The University of Tennessee during the summer of 2003. His research interests include time delay systems.

Dr. Zhao Jin, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science And Technology, P.R.China has joined as a visiting professor in Power Electronics Research Laboratory under the sponsorship of Chinese Government. He will work on fuzzy logic based intelligent control of power electronics.



Cong Wang
Dr. Cong Wang, Professor of Electrical Engineering from China University of Mining & Technology, P.R.China, has joined as a visiting professor in Power Electronics Research Laboratory under the sponsorship of Chinese Government. He will work on neural-network based intelligent control of power electronics.

Subrata Mondal
Dr. Subrata Mondal was a research professor at The University of Tennessee from 2000 - 2001. His research interest was overmodulation operation of multilevel inverters. He is presently a research engineer at International Fuel Cells in Connecticut.

Dr. Malakondaiah Naidu (1988-89) had as a research topic "Rotor position estimation scheme of a PM synchronous machine for high performance variable speed drive." Presently, he works at the General Motors Research Lab in Warren, Michigan.
